During its 2025 Annual Assembly, ChileCarne provided a complete overview of the Chilean poultry and pork industry, emphasizing its steady growth, the opening of new markets, and its leadership in health and sustainability.

The 2025 forecast for the main export destinations was also provided: China, Japan, and South Korea for pork, and the United States and Mexico for poultry. According to the USDA ranking, Chile is the world’s fifth-largest pork exporter and the eleventh-largest for chicken.

A summary of the domestic market at the end of 2024 and the first quarter of 2025 was also presented, highlighting that poultry and pork account for 85% of total meat production in tons cwe and 92% of the value exported.

In animal health, the summary highlighted the exotic disease surveillance programs, the implementation of biosecurity standards, the sustained success of the Wetlands Biosecurity Program, which is celebrating 15 years of supporting small poultry farmers, and progress in the prudent use of antibiotics through the Good Health program.

In food safety, the association shared the results from its programs on dioxin surveillance, residue control, and BIOREP (Biosecurity for suppliers from ASF-positive countries), as well as compliance efforts with stricter international markets regulations and audits conducted at plants and farms.

In sustainability, new regulatory challenges were explained, including the need to adapt to new regulations concerning odors and fertilizers, the poultry and pork industry incorporation into the Ministry of Finance’s “Taxonomy of Economic Activities,” the active monitoring of more than 65 standards and regulations under evaluation, and progress in measuring the impacts of regulation and producing sustainability indicators.

Regarding foreign trade, the report covered progress made in the negotiation of health zoning protocols with Chilean poultry and pork main markets, the signing of new memorandums of understanding with China to expand the range of exportable products, the entry into force of the modernization agreement with the European Union, and efforts aimed at opening new strategic markets.

Chile’s position as a key player in Asian markets—such as China, Japan, and South Korea—was also highlighted, supported by high-level promotional events organized by the ChilePork industry brand.

Finally, the association’s active agenda was detailed, with over 70 activities conducted between May 2024 and April 2025, including 35 that were held abroad. The activities include seminars, international conferences, public-private missions with government officials, and trade promotion events, all of which contribute to the global standing of the Chilean meat industry.
