ChileCarne was part of the online technical training organized by the Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) and the National Forestry Corporation (CONAF) for the Technical Roundtable on Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI), led by the National Service for Disaster Prevention and Response (SENAPRED) in the O’Higgins Region. The initiative brings together SAG, CONAF, INDAP, the Ministry of Health, Chile’s national police, Agrosuper, and ChileHuevos (the egg farmers’ trade association) to strengthen HPAI surveillance and monitoring in wild birds and sea lions.
The in-person training was held on July 22 at the Piedra del Viento nature sanctuary in Topocalma, a coastal area with significant ecological and cultural value. The training covered HPAI preventive and control strategies, as well as response protocols in the event of an outbreak. The attendees from the member institutions shared experiences and key technical knowledge for coordinated action against this health threat.
ChileCarne reaffirms its commitment to biosecurity and inter-institutional collaboration, actively contributing to strengthening regional capacities for the prevention and control of diseases affecting both wild animals and those raised for human consumption.
