In commemoration of the Osaka 2025 World Expo, CorreosChile, and ProChile have launched a stamp that pays tribute to the Chilean Pavilion and the country’s contribution to this global showcase, represented by the “Makün: El Manto de Chile” (Chile’s Mantle), a 242-square-meter tapestry woven by 200 Mapuche artisans.
The postmark ceremony was led by the Chairman of the Post Office (CorreosChile), Claudio Mundaca; the Undersecretary for International Economic Affairs, Claudia Sanhueza; and the Legal Director of ProChile, Paulina Valderrama. The event was attended by authorities such as the Japanese Ambassador to Chile, Takako Ito; the Executive Director of the Imagen de Chile Foundation, María Teresa Saldías; and notable figures from the private and public sectors, who underscored the symbolic value of the stamp, which integrates culture, tradition, innovation, and a forward-looking perspective.
Juan Carlos Domínguez, president of ChileCarne, attended on behalf of the association, reaffirming the sector’s commitment to promoting the country’s global image.
The stamp, illustrated by Chilean artist Mauricio Navarro, depicts the Chilean Pavilion, the snow-capped Andes mountains, and a motif inspired by Mapuche art, symbolizing the encounter between nature and culture. Additionally, a set of four limited-edition illustrated postcards will be released and made available at CorreosChile branches.
