On the first Friday of July, Latin American Poultry Day was observed for the first time, a date that was promoted by Chile and other countries in the region to celebrate this protein.

Juan Carlos Domínguez, President of ChileCarne, explained that this milestone seeks to highlight the importance of this protein, which can be found daily on the tables of families in Chile and around the world.

Chicken is the most produced meat in Chile. In 2020, it represented 44% of total meat production, with 690,647 tons. In addition, Chileans eat an average of 31.7 kilos of chicken per year, making it the country’s most consumed meat.

Domínguez explains that Chile’s chicken production growth and the industry’s major development is largely due to the growth in exports. “Being able to export our products to countries with high quality and food safety standards has allowed us to follow the best production practices and thus make Chile a world-class producer.”

He also highlights that along with stocking the country with healthy, fresh and nutritious products, Chilean products are found in markets as diverse as the United States, Mexico, the United Kingdom, China, and the Philippines, to name a few.

ChileCarne

The Chilean Association of Poultry and Pork Exporters, ChileCarne, brings together the main meat exporting companies in Chile. It was founded in 2016 to promote the development of the exporting industry, given the sector’s strong growth over the last two decades. Today, its members include companies such as: Agrosuper, Coexca, Comafri, Maxagro, Sopraval, and ProPavo, which represent more than 90% of the total exported volume of Chilean white meat.

ChileCarne’s mission is to organize activities that promote the growth of Chile’s meat exporting industry, especially pork and poultry, with a comprehensive understanding of the entire production chain in order to help consolidate Chile as a world-class producer and exporter of sustainable meat.
