An event in Santiago officially launched the 15th edition of the Fiesta Costumbrista del Chancho, which will take place on August 2 and 3 in Talca’s main square (Plaza de Armas). The launch was led by the Mayor of Talca, Juan Carlos Díaz, and Coexca’s General Manager, Guillermo García, and attended by over 100 people, including government officials, private sector representatives, sponsors, and associates.
Organized by the Municipality of Talca and Coexca’s Campo Noble brand, the festival is considered Chile’s largest winter celebration. More than 40 tons of pork, 25,000 tastings, 20 chefs, 27 restaurants, 24 wineries, 24 breweries, and eight bakeries, in addition to traditional dances, crafts, and family activities, will attract thousands of visitors over two days.
The launch offered a preview of the festive atmosphere expected in Talca, with a performance of cueca—Chile’s national dance—, the traditional cutting of the pig, and an appearance by “Vito,” FIFA’s U-20 World Cup mascot, given that Talca will be one of four host cities. The festival will feature World Cup-related activations, bringing together culture and sports to position the city as a hub for food tourism and major events in 2025.
This year, ChilePork will be at the Feria del Chancho with a cooking master class led by renowned chef Mikel Zulueta. It will also be part of the barbecue cook-off organized by the Chilean Barbecue Association (ACA), which will feature “ChilePork’s rose meat” as a category. Both activities will have an Asian flair, given that Asia is one of the primary markets for Chilean pork, adding a fusion of international flavors to this traditional occasion.
With cooking master classes, a brand area, World Cup-themed spaces, and a unique atmosphere, the Fiesta Costumbrista del Chancho continues to be an unmissable winter celebration in Chile.
