The 18th edition of the Chilean Agroindustry Meeting was held on October 19 at the Metropolitan Santiago Convention & Event Center.

The meeting, which included introductory remarks from the Chilean President, Gabriel Boric, and the President of the National Agriculture Society (SNA), Cristián Allendes, focused on agriculture as part of the country’s DNA, while calling for the strengthening of public-private efforts, and promoting the TPP11.

The first four panels of the meeting, called “With our feet on the ground,” covered topics such as successful water management in Australia and the benefits of trade agreements. The latter was presented by the former Chilean President Eduardo Frei Ruiz-Tagle, who highlighted the role of trade agreements in Chile’s growth and job creation.

The subsequent panels focused threats in Chile’s south-central macroregion, challenges for small farming, and the macroeconomic outlook and prospects for agriculture. The latter was presented by Vittorio Corbo, former President of the Chilean Central Bank.

ChileCarne’s representatives also attended the meeting as a relevant sector within the Chilean agribusiness, signaling their support to the three main worries of the sector: violence, drought, and treaties, and a prompt resolution of the issues that cause instability in the industry.
