With the goal of strengthening our trade relationship with China, who is the main trading partner of our country. ChileWeek China will be held between the 1 and 6 of November, this activity will gather Chilean and Chinese authorities, academics and businessmen. The program will be headed by Foreign Minister Roberto Ampuero, who aims to turn Chile into an investment platform.

This is the third time that ChileCarne participates in this event, which will be an important opportunity to continue promoting the renowned Chilean pork in this country. On that account, Juan Carlos Domínguez, Executive President of the association, commented that: “We are convinced of the importance of this type of actions, where the public and private sectors come together to position Chile and its exportable food supply in such an important market as China. Furthermore, this year and for the first time, the visit will be led by former President Frei and will also be in attendance the Chilean Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Agriculture, which will surely allow us to achieve great progress in the food sector “.

Domínguez added: “For our Chilean pork brand, ChilePork, it is very important to be present at the food activations that will be carried out at Chile Week China and at the CIIE Fair in Shanghai, since our country exported 103,429 tons of pork to China  during 2017, which meant $96 million USD in exports, making this the No. 1 destination for the economy in Asia in relation to the volume traded. ”

The Chilean delegation will be led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Ampuero; Former President Eduardo Frei, ambassador in special mission for the Asia-Pacific; the Chilean Ministers of Agriculture, Antonio Walker, and Minister of Infrastructure, Juan Andrés Fontaine; the undersecretary of Tourism, Mónica Zalaquett; the Director of the General Direction of International Economic Relations (Direcon), Rodrigo Yáñez; the Director of ProChile, Jorge O’Ryan; the Director of InvestChile, Cristián Rodríguez, and the Mayor of the O’Higgins Region, Juan Manuel Masferrer, among others.
