On April 23, ChileCarne’s President, Juan Carlos Domínguez, attended a meeting organized by the Chilean National Agriculture Society (SNA) with the Chinese Ambassador to Chile, Niu Qingbao, and Commercial Attaché Ma Kegiang. The sectoral brand Fruits from Chile; Wines of Chile; Fedefruta, the Chilean Federation of Fruit Producers; Faenacar, the Chilean Meat Packers Association; and Corma, the Chilean Forest Products Corporation, also attended the meeting representing the forestry and livestock industries.

The SNA described the meeting as friendly and productive, with China reaffirming its willingness to increase bilateral trade and cooperation. Both parties agreed that the relationship must be maintained and strengthened to ensure free trade. China offers excellent opportunities for Chilean agriculture, as the market needs and trusts foods from Chile, which are considered healthy, delicious, safe, high-quality, and sustainable.

China is one of Chile’s main trading partners and a key destination for its food products, especially pork. China is the largest global pork consumer and Chile the fifth largest pork exporter, according to the USDA. Today, Chile is China’s eighth biggest pork supplier, exporting 224 million USD in 2023, 30% of Chile’s total exports of the protein.
